Police are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal car crash in Southeast

The driver responsible was speeding in stolen car during the time of the accident.

WASHINGTON — The identity of the man killed in Thursday night's car crash has been released. 

Police say, 27-year-old Steven Jermaine Faison Jr. died at the scene of a car crash along Alabama Avenue, Southeast D.C.

A preliminary investigation showed that on March 14, at 10:15 p.m. a Hyundai occupied by Faison Jr. and a woman entered the intersection of 25th Street and Alabama Avenue. At that same time, a stolen Volkswagen was speeding northbound on Alabama Ave.

The driver of the Volkswagen entered the intersection and collided with the Hyundai. Both Faison Jr. and the woman he was traveling with were ejected from the car. Faison Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, the woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Her current condition remains unknown.

The driver of the stolen Volkswagen fled the scene on foot before police arrived. Police is now asking anyone with information about the driver or this car crash to call them at 202-727-9099 or text the Tip Line at 50411.
