WASHINGTON — Three teenagers have been charged as adults for their alleged involvement in a series of armed carjackings and robberies across the District.
Two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old appeared in court Thursday for carjackings and robberies that took place between April 29 and May 6. WUSA9 will not be naming the teenagers due to their ages.
According to police, the three teens committed four armed carjackings and robberies in D.C. over the course of a week. All three teens were arrested on May 7 after a 30-minute police chase through D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Officers were able to stop the car in the area of Chesapeake Street and Overlook Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Surveillance video shared with WUSA9 by X user @Abeale202 shows the chase passing through Congress Heights shortly before it all ended.
All three teens were charged with four counts of armed carjacking, one count of armed robbery, and five counts of possession of a gun during a violent crime. The 16-year-old was additionally charged with two counts of armed carjacking, one count of armed robbery, and three counts of possession of a gun during a violent crime.
One of the 17-year-old suspects was also charged with one count of armed carjacking, one count of armed robbery, and two counts of possession of a gun during a violent crime.
All three teens were ordered to be held without bond pending a hearing scheduled for June 7.
