Police arrest 14-year-old for armed robbery

Police are still on the lookout for a second suspect in connection to this armed robbery.

WASHINGTON — Police say a 14-year-old is in custody and another suspect is wanted for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Southeast D.C. on Sunday.

At 3:19 a.m., detectives say two suspects approached a victim walking home in the 1400 block of A Street, Southeast. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and took the victim's property including their car keys. The suspects then unsuccessfully attempted to steal the victim's car. One suspect, a 14-year-old boy of Southeast, D.C., was apprehended by responding officers.  He was arrested and charged with armed robbery (gun). The other suspect is still wanted by police.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
