WASHINGTON — Pride month is in full swing here in D.C., and the Capital Pride Alliance got things rolling Friday night with its annual Capital Pride Honors ceremony. The yearly event honors outstanding individuals and organizations who have provided support to the LGBTQ+ community.
Ryan Bos, the executive director of the Capital Pride Alliance, said that coming out for pride is even more important this year with the rise in anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment across the country.
“We need to be visible, we need to be seen, and people need to know that…they are part of a community.” said Bos.
Bos also gave a preview of the many events to come this week, including a partnered event with the Nationals, a pool party, the Capital Pride Parade on June 8, and the Capital Pride Festival and Concert the following day.
