Two holiday boat parades are planned for Saturday night in the District and the City of Alexandria.
At the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront, the city will be hosting its 23rd annual Holiday Boat Parade of Lights starting at 5:30 p.m., with dockside festivities until 8 p.m. There will be a pop-up beer garden, food and holiday-themed activities.
The parade's start time varies by location: It will start at 5:30 p.m. at City Marina, but earlier in Old Town North and later south of Marina and Waterfront Park. It will last for 45 minutes to an hour. There are several viewing areas, including Canal Center Plaza, Point Lumley Park and Founders Park.
In D.C., there's a holiday boat parade along the Wharf in Southwest. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m., and the parade itself will kick off at 7 p.m., which will showcase more than 60 decorated boats along the Washington Channel.
There will be fireworks at 8 p.m. and live music by the Royals and Too Much Talent Band throughout the night. Activities include the opportunity to roast s'mores at the Camp Wharf fire pit, pictures with Santa and ice skating.
Both parades are free to attend.
