TikTok donates $10,000 to Prince George's County school

Oxon Hill High School is one of multiple schools across the country that received a donation.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — We’re getting uplifted from the good coming from unexpected places.

There are a billion active users on social media platform TikTok. They usually check it out to laugh, for the latest popular trends and challenges or maybe for advice and a positive word of encouragement. But it might surprise and inspire people to hear that TikTok has donated thousands of dollars to our local schools.

Earlier this week, TikTok Shop presented a check for $10,000 to Oxon Hill High School in Prince George's County. The donation will go toward ensuring the school's teachers and staff have exactly what they need to ensure a successful school year in the classroom. The check was presented to Oxon Hill Parents Teachers and Students Association President Annisa Stanley with Oxon Hill alum and Maryland state representative Kriselda Valderrama.

The donation is a part of a larger $100,000 from TikTok Shop to other schools nationwide.
