Inner city youth orchestra comes to DC | Get Uplifted

The group is the nation's largest Black and Latinx orchestra.

WASHINGTON — An ensemble of diverse, young voices is getting us uplifted.

The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles is making its way across the country to kick off their 2024-25 concert season by performing during next week's Congressional Black Caucus annual legislative weekend.

Next Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12 and 13, they will bring their immense talents to the Washington Convention Center and the Kennedy Center. The group is the nation's largest Black and Latinx orchestra.

The orchestra got its start in 2009 with the mission of transforming the lives of young people through high-quality music education all while stressing the importance of diversity in classical music.

We are inspired by the mission of the youth orchestra bringing the full musical and academic potential of young men and women to fruition and providing life lessons like self confidence, discipline and critical thinking along the way.
