WORCESTER, Mass. — A library in Massachusetts is helping us get uplifted! Library staff is asking readers to pay back their fees and fines, but instead of asking for money, they're asking for cat photos.
The idea started when a library task force noticed a lot of younger book borrowers had fees dating back to the pandemic. The staff didn't want those people to stop using the library because of the fines. So the Worcester Public Library launched its March Meowness campaign — felines for fee forgiveness.
Don't have a cat? No problem. The library will also accept drawings of cats.
Are folks stepping up to the challenge? So far this month, 400 accounts have been cleared of fees.
We applaud this library's creative way to spread joy and make sure people keep reading.
