MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A program in Montgomery County empowers immigrant and minority girls from diverse backgrounds living at or below the poverty line to succeed in school and life. It's helping us get uplifted.
Allison Seymour hosted the annual Community Bridges Girl Legacy gala in Silver Spring on Thursday. In the last 25 years, Community Bridges has helped 6,000 girls through programs with integrated 4th to 12th grade after- and out-of-school activities.
During that time, 1,005 girls in the program have graduated high school, and all of them have been accepted into college.
The gala event helped to honor the girls, the mentors and the alum of Community Bridges. Their work makes the future brighter for all of us.
