Black-run food bank feeds neighbors in Maryland

The organization's next big event is right before Christmas.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — This Black-run food bank is getting us uplifted, and it's located right here in the DMV.

The StoreHouse is a nonprofit that supports neighbors in Maryland with food, clothing and life-saving resources with four impactful programs.

Programs include a food pantry, gently used clothing and household items for neighbors in need, items for babies such as toys and gear for infants, and mental health resources by directing people to community partners ready to help.

Their end goal is to uplift the community they serve by ending hunger and uplifting lives. They currently serve more than 31,000 families through their Lanham location and pop-ups throughout the state.

The organization's next big event is right before Christmas. They are hosting a toy giveaway on Sunday, Dec. 22. But until then, the work continues, feeding people who need a little extra help, their next free food giveaway is on Nov. 9 at the New Home Baptist Church in Landover, Maryland.

We want to share things that uplift you! If you have something you'd like to share, email us at GetUplifted@wusa9.com or contact Allison Seymour on X, Facebook and Instagram.
