FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County Public Schools announced it was canceling all outdoor activities for a second day due to heat.

All outdoor activities between the hours of noon and 8 p.m. Tuesday are canceled. That includes recess, extracurricular activities, team practices, and "recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS."

Additionally, the school district said, "Employees whose job function requires outdoor work (e.g., landscaping, groundskeeping, warehousing, general facilities, etc.) are to complete the remainder of their workday indoors. Alternate work activities that can be completed include required training, indoor maintenance, etc."

The cancellation coincides with WUSA9's Weather Impact Alert that warns of high heat and humidity between those hours.
