WASHINGTON — After a mainly dry and warm week, a cold front will move into the DMV Friday night. This front will play cat-and-mouse with us over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. A stray shower or storm will be possible both Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening before widespread rain and storm chances are back Monday.
The good news for cookouts and pool plans across the DMV is that, although we may have to dodge some showers and rumbles, it will be an unseasonably warm weekend as highs top out in the 80s Saturday, Sunday, and also Memorial Day.
If you plan on heading to the Maryland and Delaware beaches, it will be about five to ten degrees cooler there than around here.
Highs will be in the 70s with chilly water temperatures around 60. Showers and even a rumble of thunder may make it to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and Ocean City, Maryland, as well... like around the DMV... mainly Saturday night, Sunday night, and also again on-and-off Monday... so the daytime hours during the first portion of the weekend are now actually looking pretty dry!
It is funny that folks flock to the Shore for Memorial Day. Do you know that the water temperature Thanksgiving Day is about the same and sometimes a hair warmer than on Memorial Day. Right now the water temp along our ocean resorts is in the mid 50s to near 60 degrees.
