WASHINGTON — We have to go back to the weekend of Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 for our last totally rain-free weekend! But when you look at the numbers, it really hasn't been that wet...there's just a bit of recency bias going on.
Our stretch of "wet" weekends started on Saturday, April 20. But we only picked up .01" of rain and it actually was a really nice day with temperatures in the 70s and partly cloudy skies. Sunday was actually the crummier day that weekend with clouds and high temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
The next weekend of Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 also really wasn't that bad. Saturday was cloudy and cool with some light rain totaling up to .03", but Sunday was gorgeous with sunshine and temperatures in the 80s!
Then our weekends started getting a little dicey in May.
The first weekend of May was absolutely gross. It was cloudy and cold on Saturday with .82" of rain and while Sunday wasn't as chilly, it was humid and soggy with over .50" of rain.
Mother's Day weekend did have some showers, but it was far from a washout. Most of the wet weather on Saturday didn't move in until the evening, and the first half of the day was really nice with sunshine and 60s. Sunday featured off and on showers with intervals of sunshine and altogether wasn't that wet.
This upcoming weekend however, looks pretty nasty. Especially on Saturday!
By the time you wake up Saturday morning, it will already be raining. Plan on the heaviest rain in the first half of the day. By the afternoon and evening showers will be light and scattered and there will be some dry periods with otherwise cloudy skies.
Sunday is the pick day of the weekend with some light spotty showers and areas of drizzle early in the morning, but most of the day is dry. Clouds will hang tough for most of the day but some partial clearing in the afternoon is expected.
