FORECAST: Weather Impact Alert as most of the DMV sees its first snow of the season Friday afternoon

Blustery wind will stick around through the weekend.

WASHINGTON — The chilliest air of the season thus far along with some of the first snowflakes will continue to wrap up our week.

Forecast:
Friday: Blustery and cold with snow, mixing with and changing to rain. High: 43.
Friday Night: Evening showers, otherwise clearing and breezy. Low: 39.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and blustery. High: 54.

Friday will feature the coldest high temperatures we've seen so far this season with most areas topping off in only the low 40s. With gusty winds sticking around through the weekend, plan on it feeling even colder than it actually is.

After a dry morning commute, some snow will continue to push south through DC and the entire DMV. Temperatures will be above freezing so any snowflakes that may fall will melt and road conditions will just be wet.

There may be some slushy, minor accumulation on grassy surfaces in northern Maryland where snow persists for a bit longer. Through the afternoon, though, any snowflakes will flip to rain and we'll be dealing with light to moderate rain throughout the evening.

We have issued a Weather Impact Alert because the rain will slow down the evening commute.
