WASHINGTON — It's time to hit the rink! DMV-area ice skating rinks are officially reopening for the 2023-24 season. WUSA9 has compiled a list of rinks you can skate at this year as well as their prices.
The Ice Rink at the Sculpture Garden in D.C. was ranked by USA Today as one of the best rinks in the country. As of Nov. 27, it is ranked 16th on the list.
National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink
Enjoy the view of national museums and monuments as well as large-scale sculptures at this ice skating rink located at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue. The rink offers skating lessons, open skating times and special events.
Tickets are sold in 45-minute sessions beginning on the hour.
Pricing:
- $12 per person ages 13 and up, $10 per person ages 12 and under, 60+, military service members with ID, students with school ID and $250 season pass.
- $6 skate rentals and free locker rentals are available.
- Fees cover two consecutive, 45-minute skating sessions.
Hours:
- Sunday - Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Opens Nov. 20 and runs through March 3 (weather permitting).
The Wharf Ice Rink
D.C.'s only ice skating rink on the water opened for the season on Nov. 22. Bring your own skates or rent some rink-side and enjoy the amazing views of the water and monuments. The rink is located at 970 Wharf Street SW, Washington on Transit Pier at The Wharf. It is a cashless facility.
Pricing:
- $13 per adult, $10 per child and $11 per senior/military service member with ID.
- $8 skate rentals, $3 locker rentals, $2 per pair of hand warmers and more.
Hours:
- Monday-Tuesday, CLOSED.
- Wednesday-Friday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Washington Harbour Ice Rink
The rink located at 3050 K Street NW, Washington opened for the season in mid-November and will remain open through Feb. 25. Skating sessions at this outdoor rink are 90 minutes, with a 30-minute break between each session. Guests are asked to check in at the Skate Shop upon arrival.
Pricing:
- $11 per adult, $9 per person ages 12 and under, seniors, and military members.
- $7 skate rentals and $10 penguin rentals.
Hours:
- Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Pentagon Row Outdoor Ice Skating
Pentagon Row's 6,840 square-foot ice rink is considered the largest outdoor ice rink in Northern Virginia. It is located at 1201 S Joyce Street in Arlington, Va. Reservations are required to skate and are open to the public two weeks in advance.
Admission tickets are valid for 1 hour and 20 minutes of skating.
Pricing:
- Online-$11 per person ages 13 and older, $10 per person ages 12 and under, and $10 per senior.
- Walk-ups-$13 per person ages 13 and older, $12 per person ages 12 and under, and $10 per senior.
- $6 skate rentals.
Hours:
- Sunday-Monday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Tuesday-Thursday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Friday, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Enchant Christmas
Glide through a dazzling forest full of Christmas lights at this rink located at Nationals Park. Enchant Christmas offers an ice skating trail where visitors can view thousands of holiday lights while they skate.
Pricing:
- Tickets start at $36 per adult and $27 per child for general admission to the immersive light maze. $18 per person of all ages to go skating.
- Skate rentals are $10.
Open Nov. 24 through Dec. 31.
Silver Spring Ice Skating
Head to this rink located at 8523 Fenton Street in Silver Spring, MD for some outdoor skating. The rink has already opened for the season. A reservation is required to skate, and tickets must be purchased online.
Pricing:
- $11 per adult, $10 per child, and $10 per senior.
- $6 skate rentals.
Hours:
- Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Monday-Thursday, noon to 10 p.m.
- Friday, noon to 11 p.m.
- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Skaters must arrive within 10 minutes of their scheduled reservation time.
All tickets must be purchased online.
Rockville Town Square Outdoor Ice Skating Rink
This rink offers several options to learn how to skate whether you are an aspiring hockey player, a beginning figure skater, an adult looking to just try, or anything in between. The rink is located at 131 Gibbs Street in Rockville, MD.
Pricing:
- Online: $11 per adult and $10 per child/senior.
- Walk-ups: $13 per adult, $12 for 12 and under, $10 per senior.
- $6 skate rentals.
Hours:
- Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Monday-Thursday, noon to 10 p.m.
- Friday, noon to 11 p.m.
