Fairfax County water main break shuts down road

Commuters may experience delays Wednesday morning.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, Va. — A water main break in the road may leave commuters with delays in Fairfax County Wednesday morning.

The water main break happened in Bailey's Crossroads near 7313 South George Mason Drive. All northbound lanes have been shut down and Fairfax County police said to expect early morning delays with the lanes closed for an extended period of time while crews are repairing the break.

Fairfax County police provided a video of the road Tuesday night. In the video, water can be seen spurting out of the left lane like a fountain. The muddy white water appears to reach about five feet above the ground. Water is rushing across right lane and pooling on the road and under cars parallel parked alongside it.
