Pedestrian hit, killed on Crain Highway

Police say the person walked into the road for an unknown reason.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A pedestrian is dead after a crash in Upper Marlboro Friday morning.

Maryland State Police responded to the crash on Crain Highway heading northbound at Croom Road just after 5:30 a.m. Friday morning. Police say an early investigation found that a person had gotten in a different crash earlier Friday morning. The person walked into the third lane, where they were hit by a car. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was not hurt.

Police do not know why the person walked into the road. They are not releasing the person’s name until their family has been notified.

This investigation is ongoing. WUSA9 will update as more information becomes available.
