Person struck, killed by train at Fort Totten Metro station

Trains are single tracking between Fort Totten and Georgia Avenue

WASHINGTON — A person is dead after being hit by a Metro train Wednesday morning. DC Fire and EMS crews were called to the Fort Totten Metro station around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a person hit. Once on scene, the person was declared dead. Metro said the person intentionally placed themselves on the tracks.

While the investigation is underway, Metro says Green Line trains are single tracking between Fort Totten and Georgia Avenue. Trains are operating every 12 minutes. Metro riders should expect delays in both directions.

This is the second significant delay for the transit system Wednesday. Earlier, Red Line trains were delayed because of an arcing insulator that forced two stations to close. That issue has since been fixed.
