WASHINGTON — A D.C. man will spend the next two years in prison for assaulting a man at a Metro station.
Neal Pitt was sentenced on Wednesday to 24 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release for an attack that took place on the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station platform on March 9, 2021.
According to evidence, at 7:45 a.m. on that day, the victim, Daniel Olsen, was traveling to work when Pitt followed him, grabbed him by his throat, and slammed Olsen to the ground. The entire altercation was completely unprovoked and resulted in Olsen breaking his humerus. The injury required surgery and months of physical therapy to heal.
Pitt fled the scene, but was identified by surveillance footage. Police say his own statements helped place him at the scene of the crime.
