Police investigating hit-and-run crash in Fairfax County

Police say a motorcyclist has been hospitalized in the Ft. Belvoir crash

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Police are searching for a driver they say struck an motorcyclist and kept driving Thursday morning. Fairfax County Police say the motorcyclist was hospitalized with injuries described as life-threatening. 

Officers were called to the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Richmond Highway in Fort Belvoir around 5:30 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run crash. Investigators say the motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was struck by a driver in a red sedan. The sedan did not remain on the scene of the crash. 

The driver of the sedan was found about two hours later, according to a social media post from Fairfax County Police Department.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours while the crash investigation was underway. All roads have since been reopened, according to police.

Police have not released any additional information about the cause of the crash or what may have led up to it. They ask anyone who may have information to call 911 immediately.
