FAIRFAX, Va. — A crash in Fairfax County sent a school bus into a Department of Motor Vehicles building on Thursday morning. Three people were sent to the hospital for treatment of injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the reported crash in the 9800 block of Braddock Road just after 9 a.m. That's near the Virginia State Police Area 9 Office. Responding crews found two vehicles involved in the crash. Five students were on the bus at the time of the crash. Two of them, along with the driver, were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police say the crash happened when the bus and the passenger vehicle swerved to miss one another. The bus went into the building and the passenger vehicle went into a ditch. Parents were notified and the remaining students were taken by another bus to school.
No one inside the DMV was hurt. The building will be closed Thursday as crews review damage and make sire the building is safe to reopen.
