CENTREVILLE, Va. — A crash on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County caused miles of traffic backups during rush hour on Monday. A dump truck struck a bridge in the westbound lanes of the highway just before Route 28 (Exit 53) in Centreville around 5 a.m.
Dash cam video shared with WUSA9 by Amir Jaffery shows the moment of impact. Lanes were closed for about an hour to investigate the crash and clean up debris in the road. As of Tuesday morning, all lanes are back open.
Video shows the dump truck traveling down the road with the back of the truck in a vertical position. The back of the truck strikes the bridge's support beam, causing the back end of the truck to fly off and into the road.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
