ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Commanders are looking for their first four-game winning streak since 2021 and their first 4-1 start since 2008.
With a win over the Cleveland Browns who come in with a 1-3 record, the Commanders could build on the suddenly elevated level of national attention the team is getting following their 3-1 start.
Leading the way for Washington has been a rookie quarterback who not only has the best record of any first-year passer but was also named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.
Helping Daniels in his efforts to secure the fourth win of his young career will be running back Austin Ekeler (concussion) who has been cleared to play. It’s a good thing too, because fellow running back Brian Robinson Jr. (knee) is officially questionable and will be a game-time decision according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Not playing this weekend will be receiver Noah Brown (groin) who has been ruled out along with defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee) who will miss his third game in a row.
Stepping up in place of Brown, receivers Luke McCaffrey and Dyami Brown will look to join Olamide Zaccheaus to provide Daniels with an option beyond Terry McLaurin.
Linebacker Jordan Magee (knee) and defensive lineman Efe Obada (leg) had their practice windows opened up this week as they get set to return to the active roster, but both are doubtful for this weekend.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota (pec) also had his window opened to return from injured reserve and is questionable for Sunday. Guard Nick Allegretti (ankle), safety Percy Butler (groin), and safety Tyler Owens (shin) are also questionable for Washington.
For the Browns, running back Nick Chubb (knee) will not be making his season debut this weekend as he was ruled out along with linebacker Jordan Hicks (ribs/elbow/triceps), running back Nyheim Hines (knee), offensive tackle James Hudson III (shoulder), and defensive end Alex Wright (triceps).
Offensive tackle Jack Conklin (hamstring) is questionable to return and Cleveland would love to see him back on the field to help secure what has been a shaky offensive line so far this season.
Tight end David Njoku (ankle), running back Pierre Strong Jr. (hamstring), guard Michael Dunn (illness), and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee) are questionable as well.
The Commanders and Browns will kick-off at 1 p.m. ET inside Northwest Stadium this Sunday.
