WASHINGTON — Washington football legend Deion Sanders famously once said, "Look good, feel good. Feel good, play good." This season, the Washington Commanders are injecting a little history in how they look, with hopes of returning to the success those uniform colors once enjoyed.
We are less than a month away from seeing the Commanders go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the first game of the 2024 NFL regular season. During that game, the players will use their uniforms to pay homage to Washington's football past: the signature gold pants.
The gold trousers will be paired with the team's burgundy jersey for the first time since the 2018 season. Of course, the history of those pants goes back much further than that. Washington won two NFL championships suited in the burgundy and gold in 1937 and 1942.
However, the classic burgundy and gold look isn't the only color combination the team will be sporting this season.
The Commanders released a schedule earlier this month announcing what games will see the burgundy, white or black jerseys. Before you ask, the Commanders have said the pant selection will be determined the week of each game.
