WASHINGTON — The Washington Commanders are paying homage to the franchise's history this upcoming season.

The team is bringing the Burgundy and Gold back to the field with the signature gold pants. After fans begged to bring it back, the franchise listened, including it in the team's uniform combination. The gold pants will return as part of the regular season uniform for the first since 2018 when players wore it against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The gold pants have been a staple in the Commanders uniform since they moved from Boston to the DMV in 1937. They won two NFL championships suited in the burgundy and gold in 1937 and 1942.

The team archived the gold pants after the 1978 season. But, now as the Commanders prepare for the upcoming season in a new era led by a new quarterback, coach, general manager, and owners; it's time for them to go back to their roots.

It's still unknown which games the gold pants will be worn. But as the official Commanders station in the DMV, we will keep you updated.
