Washington Commanders sign new QB

Trace McSorley has worked with new Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury in the past.

ASHBURN, Va. — When the Washington Commanders suit up for their second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, there may be a new quarterback taking snaps. The Commanders announced Thursday that Trace McSorley has joined the team.

The Ashburn, Virginia native played high school football at Briar Woods before playing quarterback at Penn State. He was drafted in 2019 by the Baltimore Ravens and most recently was signed to the Chicago Bears in 2023.

McSorley has worked with the Commanders' new Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury in the past. He played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, when Kingsbury was head coach.

McSorley joins a quarterback room with No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels, Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel and Sam Hartman. Hartman is reportedly nursing a shoulder injury and will not play Saturday in Miami.

The Commanders head to Miami with an 0-1 record after a loss to the New York Jets. Despite the loss, Daniels looked strong in his NFL debut.

As the DMV's official television station of the Washington Commanders, WUSA9 will broadcast Saturday's game, but you'll also be able to watch the game online if you live in the D.C. market.

WUSA9 Sports Director Chick Hernandez will call the game.
