ASHBURN, Va. — The final member of the Washington Commanders 2024 coaching staff is in place, according to the franchise. John Glenn, a longtime coach with the Seattle Seahawks, is now on the sidelines as an assistant special teams coach.
Most recently, Glenn served as linebackers coach for Seattle from 2018 to 2023.
Last season, the Seattle linebacker core proved to be the foundation of the defensive unit with linebacker Bobby Wagner leading the NFL in tackles (183) along with recording 100 tackles for his 12th consecutive season. Wagner became the third player in NFL history to accomplish that milestone.
Glenn joined the Seahawks organization in 2012 and has served a variety of roles since then. Beginning as a coaching and special teams assistant, he would achieve a victory in Super Bowl XLVIII. He was then promoted to the role of defensive quality control coach the following season and became a defensive assistant before assuming the role of a linebackers assistant in 2017.
Before the NFL, Glenn spent two seasons at the University of Washington as a quality control coach, and three seasons as a linebackers coach from 2006 to 2008 for North Carolina Wesleyan College.
With Glenn's hiring, the Commanders say the 2024 coaching staff is finalized. Glenn joins new head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. and others, including Anthony Lynn and Sharrif Floyd.
