WASHINGTON — Washington Commanders Owner Josh Harris said Monday that when filling the positions of head coach and head of football operations, he would be "thorough, but rapid."
It appears he wasn't kidding.
Harris left Ashburn Monday for his home in Miami, Florida and is getting right to work alongside Bob Myers and Rick Spielman, two executives Harris added to an advisory committee to aid with the search. The candidates for the Head of Football Operations are in interview mode, according to reports.
Among the candidates who will reportedly be at Harris' Miami compound Tuesday is Kansas City Chiefs Assistant General Manager Mike Borgonzi, who has been with the Chiefs since 2009. He was promoted to assistant general manager in 2021.
Borgonzi is familiar with Eric Bieniemy, the current offensive coordinator of the Commanders, from their shared time in Kansas City.
Additionally, Cleveland Browns Assistant General Manager Glen Cook is reportedly a candidate for the front office job. The 39-year-old assistant GM has interviewed with several teams over the last couple of seasons, including the Titans and Bears.
Cook is one of the people instrumental in bringing Joe Flacco to the Browns, which has worked out well with Flacco helping lead the team to the playoffs.
Perhaps the hottest prospect of all of them, however, is the Niners Assistant General Manager Adam Peters, who will reportedly visit with the Commanders brass Tuesday night in Miami.
After that scheduled interview, the Raiders and Chargers also requested time with Peters. Of course, Harris and company could always make an offer Peters couldn't refuse if they like what they hear.
There are more interviews reportedly scheduled in the coming days.
