BALTIMORE — The Friday before every Ravens' game is dubbed “Purple Friday." All of Baltimore is decked out in purple in support of the city's favorite football team.
But according to Ravens Cheerleader, Amanda, this Purple Friday is different than others.
"The excitement is unparalleled. It is electric!"
Sunday will be Baltimore's first home AFC Championship game in half a century, bringing Purple Friday to an all-time high.
"It is wild in Baltimore, Amanda says. "Everyone is so excited. Everyone is out celebrating Purple Friday. They're excited for the game Sunday."
Longtime Ravens Fan, Scott Bentley agrees. "Everybody is really hyped up," Bentley says. "I think there's a lot of feelings this could be the year. I've seen more support this year than I have in a long time."
The Baltimore Ravens want this Purple Friday celebration to be as inclusive as possible. Former Raven players, Ravens cheerleaders, even Poe - The Ravens mascot, are all traveling to several locations, so the entire city can join the party.
"The purpose of the caravan is to touch every single person in Baltimore and say we're all together," says Raven Cheerleader, Annabelle. "We're all a part of this community, and we're all going to be cheering on Sunday."
Former Ravens Fullback, Vonta Leach will be cheering as well. "This is a very important game, Leach says. "We're one game away from what the guys have been working on all year. And to come out here and spend time with the fans, it feels good."
The fans here in Baltimore say they feel comfortable letting their hair down because they fully expect The Ravens to take care of business this Sunday against The Chiefs.
"Baltimore going to come out victorious," Leach says.
Bentley says, "I have The Ravens winning 34 to 23."
There you have it… quote The Ravens fans, never more.
