WASHINGTON — The National Mall of Pickleball is returning to D.C. for a second year and its organizers are adding more courts. The Trust for the National Mall, Humana, and Humana Foundation says this year’s event will take place on the National Mall from September 27 to September 29.
The tournament will include 11 temporary courts at JFK Hockey Fields. This year’s theme is “One for the Ages,” a celebration for the new generation of picklers and encouraging pickleball for all ages.
“As we planned for this year’s event and the impact we wanted to have, we reflected on this iconic space and what it represents. It seems fitting to celebrate and honor a dynamic that is both natural to the pickleball world and also one of the National Mall’s greatest legacies—creating experiences for people to live healthy and active lifestyles and make social connections across generations.” said Bruch Broussard, CEO of Humana.
The three-day event first came to the National Mall in 2023 and included celebrity matches, instructor-led lessons, and more.
This year the Trust is searching for America’s first-ever Ultimate Pickleball Duos, specifically pairs of different generations who have used their love for pickleball to foster a relationship on and off the court. The trust is asking duos to submit videos of their stories that highlight the role pickleball played in their intergenerational relationship for a chance to play on Center Court.
Six partners will be selected from across the country to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the National Mall of Pickleball. For more details regarding how to reserve courts visit https://nationalmall.org/pickleball.
