GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy announced her endorsement of Congressman David Trone for the U.S. Senate from Maryland.
Braveboy has served in her role as State's Attorney since 2019. She joins several Prince George’s County elected officials, including Senator Joanne Benson and Maryland Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk, in endorsing Trone’s campaign.
“Prince George’s County deserves a dedicated champion in the United States Senate who will transcend political differences and unite us all to achieve what’s best for our residents and every Marylander. I don’t just know the person that David Trone is, I know the track record he’s established. As a leader on addressing the opioid crisis ravaging communities across the country and the mental health crisis devastating families each day, David has fought tirelessly to give prosecutors like me and communities like mine the tools that they need to ensure no one gets left out or left behind. I am honored to endorse David Trone for the United States Senate to give every community in Maryland the champion they truly deserve.”
Trone is going up against Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks for the democratic nominee. A new poll from The Baltimore Sun, Fox45 and the University of Baltimore shows Trone leading Alsobrooks by 12 points in a head-to-head contest. The same poll shows both Trone and Alsobrooks trailing Republican candidate and former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.
Maryland's primary vote is scheduled for May 14.
