District Court Arrest Warrant court papers with handcuffs and blue pen on United States flag. Concept of permission to arrest a suspect

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A Woodbridge man has been convicted of impersonating a federal officer, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Russel Guye Dadzie, 50, was a security guard hired by a third-party contractor to work in federal buildings since at least 2013.

Dadzie’s May 24 conviction is related to multiple run-ins with the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) in which he presented the identification cards required to access the federal facilities where he worked, rather than a valid driver's license.

Dadzie reportedly claimed to be a federal officer when police approached his car on Sept. 15, 2023, and again on Nov. 9, 2023. Dadzie reportedly showed his access cards to bolster his claim.

His training, which reportedly was completed as recently as January 2023, outlined that “his authority was limited to the immediate area of the building he was assigned to guard and only during his assigned shift.”

Furthermore, “That training also explains that he is not a federal employee, federal agent, or federal officer, that he should not identify himself as such in any context, and that engaging in this type of misrepresentation could result in criminal charges.”

Dadzie’s sentencing is on Sept. 12, and he faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison.
