Hit-and-run crash in Arlington leaves motorcyclist injured, man in custody

Through information provided by a witness to the crash, a trooper was able to identify and locate the van and its driver.

ARLINGTON, Va. — A driver has been charged after a hit-and-run crash in Arlington left a motorcyclist injured Sunday afternoon.

Virginia State Police responded to Interstate 395 southbound, at the Pentagon, around 12:40 p.m. after a report of a crash involving a motorcycle. The motorcycle was traveling southbound on I-395 when it was hit by driver behind the wheel of a Honda van. The driver of the van then took off.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Through information provided by a witness to the crash, a trooper was able to identify and locate the van and its driver later the same day. Police charged the driver, identified as 45-year-old Fullas Abebe, of Falls Church, Virginia, with failure to stop at the scene of a crash causing injury.

The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing.
