Nearly a dozen cars damaged in Woodbridge parking lot fire

The cause is thought to be accidental, firefighters say.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Several people are without their cars after a fire in a parking lot in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Woodbridge. Fire crews with Prince William County Fire Department responded and quickly doused the flames.

Firefighters believe the cause to be accidental. Flames spread to neighboring cars in the parking lot of the Summerland Heights apartment community because of gasoline leaking from the initial burning vehicle.

Video shared from viewer Evelyn Cisneros via the Near Me section of the WUSA9 app shows the scene after the fire was extinguished. Several cars are shown smoking in the parking lot, while residents stand by watching.

In total, 11 cars were damaged in the fire. Eight of those were thought to be total losses. The precise cause of the fire is still under investigation.
