GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A fire that likely started in the garage of a home in Gaithersburg has left a family without a place to live. Fire crews were called to the home around 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Once on scene, they found flames shooting from the roof of the home.

The two-story home is on Duvall Street off of West Deer Park Lane in Gaithersburg, which is not far from Summit Hall Elementary School. About 50 firefighters were called to the scene to bring the fire under control.

Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire Department said the fire was quickly extinguished and those inside the home were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

In total, seven adults, an infant and a dog were forced from the home and are now without a place to live.

Fire department investigators are still working to determine the cause of the blaze. It is not clear whether the home had working smoke detectors.
