FRANCONIA, Va. — Two New York women are facing multiple credit card theft charges in Virginia.
On Saturday, officers arrested Luz Hernandez Capera, 41 and Claudia Echavarria Osorio, 53, and took them to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The arrest stems from a pickpocket incident in Lorton, Virginia.
On December 18, 2023, a victim reported their wallet stolen while at a Panera Bread to the Franconia Police Department. Investigators claim Capera and Osorio started using the victim’s credit cards immediately after at several stores.
Later that day, Herndon Police received a similar case and were able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle used in the crimes.
On Saturday, a license plate reader alerted Fairfax County Police that the vehicle had been spotted in the area. An officer spotted the car on Route 66 and conducted a traffic stop. The officer was able to identify the suspects in the car, from surveillance videos issued.
