WASHINGTON — A man was shot near the Metro station in Dupont Circle on Tuesday, DC Police said.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at Connecticut Avenue and Q Street Northwest – the location of the Metro station's Q Street entrance on the north of the circle.
Officers arriving at the scene located a man who had been shot. Commander Nikki Lavenhouse with DC Police said the man was shot inside of his vehicle. Police say he was conscious and breathing when he was taken to an area hospital.
He was reported to be in critical condition. Police were on scene during rush hour looking for any potential footage of what happened. Lavenhouse said they were checking on a nearby Metrobus to see if they had caught the shooting on camera.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. Lavenhouse asked anyone who may have information about what happened to contact them at 202-727-9099, or text the department's tip line at 50411.
