VIRGINIA, USA — The Virginia Senate has decided to add funding for Metro in its budget for the year.
That's according to Senator Louise Lucas who posted a picture with WMATA's General Manager and Board Chairman sharing the news on Sunday. Lucas says she made the decision after Metro committed to long-term reforms.
It's unclear exactly how much money the Senate is putting toward Metro, but we know WMATA asked for 130 million.
Maryland has already committed to contribute 150 million in funding. D.C. leaders committed 200 million.
WMATA has been warning commuters for months about a 750 million budget deficit that could lead to service cuts.
