Nearly 30 people displaced from Labor Day apartment fire in Alexandria

According to the Red Cross 11 families were impacted by fire. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Crews in Alexandria are working to extinguish a fire in an apartment building Monday afternoon. 

Very few details have been released at this time, here is what we do know. The fire was in the 400 block of North Armistead Street. Crews have extinguished the fire, but smoke caused a building evacuation.

North Armistead was closed between Quantrell and Beauregard for several hours. Several people are being treated for minor injuries. 

According to Red Cross, 11 families equating nearly 30 people were displaced as a result of the fire. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
