According to the SRO assigned to Patriot High School, the fight was between the victim and a 17-year-old boy inside of the building just before 8 a.m.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A Prince William County student is recovering after being jumped before school Tuesday morning.

The victim is a 14-year-old, whose identity will not be revealed for the safety of the student. According to the School Resource Officer assigned to Patriot High School, the fight was between the victim and a 17-year-old boy inside the building just before 8 a.m.

At one point during the fight, two other students reportedly jumped in and began punching and kicking the victim, knocking him to the ground. Once on the ground, the three young men allegedly began stomping the victim out until he lost consciousness.

Staff members and the SRO were eventually able to break up the fight. Despite losing consciousness, the victim was only treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

In a letter sent to parents, the principal, Dr. Michael Bishop, addressed the fight and made parents aware of a video that is circulating on social media of the altercation. Dr. Bishop said the school was investigating the situation.

“The safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our highest priority. This type of violence will not be tolerated at Patriot High School, and those students involved will be disciplined according to the PWCS Code of Behavior. We are also working with law enforcement to determine if criminal charges will be filed.” said Dr. Bishop on Tuesday.

Prince William County Schools also stated the altercation, echoing the same message as the school and offering support to students and staff members.

The young men involved in the altercation were arrested and charged. The two boys who jumped in the fight, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, are being charged with malicious wounding and assault by a mob. The 17-year-old who initiated the fight is being charged with assault & battery and assault by mob.
