Overnight house fire leaves 5 without a home near Fredericksburg

The fire was under control in 15 minutes, but there appears to be significant damage to the building.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Five people are displaced from their home after a fire overnight near Fredericksburg.

Stafford County Fire and Rescue and Fredericksburg Fire Department responded to a fire in the 100 block of Lake Bluff Court near Abel Lake at around 1:30 a.m., where they found heavy fire from the back and side coming from the top floor of a two story house. They were able to bring the fire under control after just 15 minutes.

All five residents of the home self evacuated before the fire department arrived and are being helped by the American Red Cross. No one was hurt. There appears to be significant damage to the side of the house, shown in photos shared by Stafford Fire and Rescue.

The Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
