Police make arrest in September Fairfax County rape case

Erick Chacon Martinez was taken into custody on Dec. 5, according to detectives.

MCLEAN, Va. — Major Crimes Detectives in Fairfax County say they have made an arrest in a rape case from several months ago. A 23-year-old man was taken into custody on Tuesday, police said.

According to investigators, on Sept 16, Erick Vladamir Chacon Martinez, of Falls Church, arranged to meet a woman at the Quarry Inn Motel. When she opened the door, Chacon Martinez flashed a knife and threatened the woman. Detectives say that's when Chacon Martiez sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to escape the room and call 911 for help.

Officers and detectives searched the area and found surveillance video of Chacon Martinez, which was shared with the community.

While reviewing digital evidence, detectives identified a phone number used to arrange a meeting with the woman prior to the incident that was associated with Chacon Martinez. Investigators also linked Chacon Martinez through additional camera footage and open-source data leads from social media accounts.

Based on the evidence detectives collected, warrants were obtained for rape, abduction with intent to defile and forcible sodomy.

On Dec. 5, detectives from the Fugitive Track and Apprehension arrested Chacon Martinez on the active warrants and he is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
