Police: 22-year-old man man taken into custody for alleged involvement in drive-by shooting

Arrest warrants were initially issued back in August for Pineda Salguero, following an investigation, but officers have been unable to locate him until now.

MANASSAS, Va. — A Manassas man is in custody for his alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting back in May. No one was injured as a result of the shooting and police do not believe it was random.

Prince William County Police said Elmer Eduardo Pineda Salguero was arrested on Sunday and charged with one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and two counts of attempted malicious wounding related to the May shooting. 

At 6 p.m. on May 15, officers responded to investigate a reported shooting in the area of Coloriver Road and Goodland Court in Manassas. 

An investigation revealed that earlier in the the day a 20-year-old and 16-year-old, were driving in the area when a grey Nissan sedan sped towards them. While the cars were passing one another, someone from inside the Nissan took out a gun, fired and struck the victim's car. Both cars quickly left the area, and the victims eventually called police.

Investigators say a single shell casing was found in the roadway. No injuries or property damage was reported. 

A court date is pending for Pineda Salguero.
