Man arrested in New Jersey for alleged sexually assault inside Virginia home he was renting the basement in

The investigation revealed the woman awoke to the man entering her room armed with a knife.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A man has been taken into custody in New Jersey for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the Dale City area of Woodbridge.

Alexander Maximiliano, 42, is accused of sneaking into the victim's room, while she was sleeping, armed with a knife.

On Monday, at 7:50 a.m., officers responded to a home in the Woodbridge area of Prince William County to investigate a sexual assault. The investigation revealed that a woman awoke to Maximiliano entering her room armed with a knife before sexually assaulting her.

The victim was able to get away and leave the home. That is when she came across a neighbor who helped call the police.

Detectives say the man fled the scene in a Dodge Caravan that was originally silver and is now re-painted black, with New Jersey license plates.

Officers determined Maximiliano was renting the basement in the same home as the victim. The two did not know one another.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Alexander Maximiliano Soto Hernandez.

On Tuesday, Maximiliano was arrested after being located in North Plainfield Borough, New Jersey. He is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of forcible sodomy, and one count of abduction with intent to defile.

A court date is pending.
