Man who police say raped girl in Woodbridge arrested

According to police, a girl had been sexually assaulted by the man inside a home when a family member discovered what was happening and intervened.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police arrested a man they were looking for who they say raped a girl inside a Woodbridge home last year.

On Nov. 26, 2023 around 12:30 a.m. officers with Prince William County Police Department responded to a home in the Woodbridge area of Prince William County to investigate a sexual assault.

According to police, a girl had been sexually assaulted by a man inside the home when a family member discovered what was happening and intervened. The man fled the home, police said.

Detectives determined that the man and girl had met on a social media app and arranged to meet at the home.

Investigators identified the man as 26-year-old Dimas Alexis Lazo, of College Park, Maryland. They obtained an arrest warrant, but police could not initially locate him. Last week, they asked for the public's help locating him.

On Thursday, the police department announced that Lazo had been arrested on Tuesday.

Lazo is being charged with rape.
