FALLS CHURCH, Va. — A 41-year-old man was electrocuted Tuesday evening as he trimmed trees in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Jacinto Gomez Diaz of Culpeper, Va., was pronounced dead a little after 9:30 p.m. after working near a power line, police said Wednesday. He apparently made contact with an electric line in the 3400 block of Surrey Lane at about 8:15 p.m., but rescuers had to await for Dominion Energy crews to deactivate the line before they could proceed.

The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Manassas is conducting an autopsy to determine Gomez Diaz's cause of death.
