OXON HILL, Md. -- Static electricity appears to be the cause of two recent ambulance calls to the MGM National Harbor, according to a statement by the casino company.

Officials said no serious injuries were reported.

The incidents happened as MGM National Harbor and Prince George's County inspection officials are under investigation after the near deadly electrocution of a 6-year-old girl on June 26.

The girl's family has sued and a criminal investigation remains ongoing.

Court documents allege that faulty wiring that should never have passed inspection are to blame for the June incident.

A whistleblower has accused county officials of overlooking or missing critical violations in the rush to get the casino and hotel open on time.

The latest incident happened Wednesday evening when two employees reported feeling shocks while working with a food service cart, according to a statement from the company. MGM officials called for an ambulance.

One employee declined to be treated and another was sent to a hospital and released, MGM's statement said.

One of the same employees was involved in another incident on Dec. 4 after reporting a shock while pushing the call button on an elevator, according to the company. Again, medical personnel were called and no injury was reported.

The elevator was taken out of service for inspection and approved after no faults were found, the company said.

The food service cart has been taken out of service for examination.
