WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police have identified and arrested a Woodbridge man who they say is responsible for the abduction of a 29-year-old woman on Sunday. Ricardio Antonio Chavarria Manjivar, 35, is being charged with abduction with the intent to defile.
At 2:57 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, officers responded to investigate an attempted assault that was reported to have happened earlier that evening.
An investigation revealed a 29-year-old woman was walking in the area when the driver of a white sedan pulled up and offered her a ride. The victim voluntarily got in the car with the man, and he then refused to let her leave despite her numerous attempts.
While driving around, investigators say the suspect exposed himself and made inappropriate gestures before grabbing the victim. Later that morning, the suspect drove the victim to her home where she encountered police.
Detectives say while investigating the abduction, they were tipped off to a car matching the description of the suspect's car. After responding to that area, they located the car and identified the owner who was later determined to be the suspect.
Following an investigation, Chavarria Manjivar was arrested and charged.
He is being held without bond. A court date is pending.
