Prince William County Police searching for the man wanted in a machete attack

Now it has been over a week and Amaya is still on the loose.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — On Tuesday, a breakthrough occurred in the investigation of a stabbing that took place on October 29 in Manassas, Virginia. 

Prince William County officers have identified a suspect responsible for the malicious wounding that happened in the 10200 block of Farragut Court. That suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Maynor Lemus Amaya. 

Officers responded to a call a little after 1 a.m. According to police, the a 37-year-old man and Amaya got into a heated verbal altercation which escalated into violence. During the altercation, Amaya attacked the victim with a machete, before leaving. 

The victim is expected to recover from his injuries. 

It has been over a week and Amaya is still on the loose. Officers obtained an arrest warrant on the day of the stabbing and have been searching for him since the attack. 

Police are now asking the public for their help in locating Amaya. 

He is described as being 5-foot-7, weighing 170 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. Amaya is facing charges of malicious wounding, assault & battery.
