30-year-old man charged with attempted murder for stabbing 70-year-old woman in Maryland store

Prince George's County Police identified the man arrested as 30-year-old James Minor of Clinton.

CAMP SPRINGS, Md. — Detectives are still not sure why a 30-year-old Clinton man randomly attacked a 70-year-old woman inside a store at a Prince George's County shopping center Wednesday, stabbing her multiple times. Police say the man stole the woman's car before he was arrested late Thursday night.

The man wanted in connection to the attack was captured on surveillance video outside the Eddie Leonard's store in the 7100 block of Temple Hill Road. Investigators have identified the man arrested as James Minor.

A preliminary investigation has found that Minor and the woman were not known to each other. The motive for the attack remains under investigation, according to police. Minor has been charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, robbery, auto theft and other related charges.

The woman who was attacked remains in the hospital. Police say she is in stable condition. She has not been identified by police.

Police say the investigation is still active. They ask anyone who may have additional information to contact detectives at 301-856-2660. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact Prince George's County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and refer to case number 23-0065133.
